Just ok May 18, 2010 Bridget Bauer (Schenectady, NY) With all the changes in BPA research and venting systems that weren't out when I had my daughter I spent a lot of time researching bottles for my newborn. I am a long time daycare teacher and have used many bottles for the many different kids I have taken care of so I knew exactly what I DIDN'T want. I narrowed it down to the Thinkbaby and the Green To Grow series. Thinkbaby won due to their sip cup attachment. As a teacher I thought this was a fantastic concept because transitioning to a sip cup can be difficult for some children.
After using these bottles for a couple of weeks I am not impressed. For the first two days my son could not figure out the cross cut nipple (and after re-reading the reviews I found this is a common problem). The nipple is so soft, while normally a good thing, it basically flops over if pressed to hard not to mention the nipple collapses ALL THE TIME and I am constantly pulling the bottle out of my son's mouth to correct it. There have been times the nipple collapsed so bad it fell inside the bottle which made a nice mess.
The nipples are not marked clearly so if you have more than one flow type opened there is no way to tell the difference between them. There is also two different bottle plastic types (the normal plastic or the eco-friendly polypropylene) and they both heat at different rates which makes for very aggrivating midnight feedings when you overheat or under heat because you forgot which bottle you grabbed.
All in all I am going out to buy a different brand today to see if it is better. These definitely don't work for me.
Loved them till they changed the bottle... nipples are great February 2, 2010 Jersey Gal (Monmouth County, NJ) The bottle just melted in teh bottle warmer!! Argh! They warp!!! Love the new nipples, hate the new bottles.
The Nipples Are Horrible! June 10, 2009 ME (Cincinnati, OH United States) After many recommendations we purchased the Thinkbaby bottles for our twins. Since we wanted enough bottles for an entire day, we purchased 16 bottles (8 feedings a day x 2 babies).
The bottles came with the slow flow cross cut nipples. Unfortunately, the day our twins came home from the hospital we found out that neither could use the nipples. Thinkbaby claims that "by gently applying pressure to the nipple, the cross cut opens to allow the flow of fluid". That is the furthest from the truth. I called their customer service and the agent suggested we try the medium flow or fast flow cross cut nipples. So I spent more money ordering these nipples just to find out they still do not work!
Once again, I called their customer service and at that time she informed me that they were once again going-to-market with a single-hole design. Apparently many babies (like ours) could not use the cross cut nipples. Thinkbaby made the mistake of taking the single-hole off the market completely and started using their cross cut nipples only. Unfortunately for us, our bottles came with worthless nipples and I purchased even more worthless nipples from them.
So basically after spending a small fortune in bottles and nipples, we have switched to Avent nipples. We are still using the Thinkbaby bottles with the Avent nipples however they don't fit perfectly and do leak but we really have no other choice. We considered buying the new single-hole nipples but don't trust Thinkbaby and frankly can't afford to make another mistake with buying their products.
I did give the review 1 star since we are able to salvage something in the use of the bottles.
Never will buy another bottle- awesome! March 31, 2009 B. Friant 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love these bottles. I tried so many and finally bought these about 5 months ago. I have used them for quite a while now, and love them! About the collapsible nipple issue. At first for the first two months I never had a problem. I finally had the "collapsible nipple" happen, so I tugged at it and didn't have a problem. I think it has something to do with the air vent, perhaps if there is water left in there after you wash them, maybe that's what causes it. Sometimes I do have to unscrew the top and put the top back together so it stops doing it. That normally fixes the problem. It doesn't happen all the time, though. Only here and there. I would recommend these 100 times over.
Once you know how to use it...... March 6, 2009 Ashley Diamond (Glendale, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This bottle is great. The nipple did collapse, but once I made sure the little airflow 'thing' attached to the nipple was open, then we have not had any other problems. I love this bottle!
